Thank you, Gayle!
In 1989 I was diagnosed with a rare liver disease called Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC) with no known cure. Primary means that nothing like alcoholism caused it; Sclerosing means scarring or blockage and Cholangitis means the bile ducts inside of the liver.
In 1991 the Hepatology Clinic at OHSU gave me 3-5 years to live before needing a liver transplant. At that time, because the PSC was progressing so rapidly with many side effects such as fatigue, forgetfulness, fevers of 104+, chills, depression, extreme itching of skin, I decided to return to Wallowa County where I grew up to die. I didn’t feel that I could accept someone else’s liver as my own.
I began researching everything that I could find about the liver and ways to help it work as well as reading my Bible daily. I read the Bible thru in a year for several years in a row. I began taking herbs along with the prescription medications.
I accepted Jesus back into my life in 1996 and was baptized in 1997. In 2000, after surviving 6 years longer than was predicted by the OHSU doctors, I was again given a deadline. This time the deadline was 2 to 3 years and I was accepted into the Transplant program. I was given strict instructions and put onto a low fat, low sodium, and high protein diet. I went one better and also went onto the health diet that I have found while reading the Bible so extensively. I began getting better after much prayer from friends and family.
In 2004, I became the first (that I know of) person to be removed from the transplant list for being too well. PRAISE GOD FOR ANSWERED PRAYER! OUR GOD IS AN AWESOME GOD OF LOVE AND MIRACLES!
In Christ’s Love,
